Azhar Ali: “All focus to be on upcoming Test series”

Present red ball cricket captain of Pakistan team, Azhar Ali in a press conference at Gadaffi Stadium on Friday has said that, after being crushed by Australia, all of our focus now will be on upcoming Test series with Sri Lanka.

Following the defeat of Pakistan against Australia, Azhar concluded this. Pakistan has been white washed by Australia in Test series. They first lost the test at Gabba and then at Adelaide. Their performance has not been going so well so far. Pakistan have lost T20 series before as well of the same tour. The first T20 however was called off and they lost second and third T20.

Following the crushing and demolishing defeat, Pakistani test captain Azhar Ali now wants to put their keen interest in the test series against Sri Lanka.

“It is important for us to play well in this series. We have a fresh batting line up,” he said.

He articulated further that the team cannot depend upon one or two players for the victory needed and there are some changes to be made. Players will take time to back in form as it is going to be the first test series for many of the players.

“You have to use your backups. You cannot keep depending on Shaheen Shah and Yasir Shah,” he said.

Pakistan have failed to make a win this time as well. They haven’t won a single test match from Australia and the streak has continued this time as well. Also he said that Australia’s pitches are easier to score even then we couldn’t score. On the other side, he regarded South Africa’s pitches difficult to score.

Test cricket is set to return to Pakistan after a long gap of 10 years. Last time, Sri Lanka tour the country for a two-match series at Rawalpindi and Karachi on Dec 11 and Dec 19, respectively.

Winding up the conference, Azhar Ali added,

“We have to figure out how to win Tests in Pakistan,” he wrapped up the conference.
