SL vs Pak, 2nd T20: Pakistan lost by 35 runs

Lahore, SL vs PAK, 2nd T20: Sri Lanka have beaten Pakistan in second T20 of the series at Gadaffi Stadium on Monday. Pakistan have lost the game by 35 runs and also the series. Sri Lanka have beaten Pakistan in T20 series at their own home ground by 2-0.

Sri Lanka who won the toss and elected to bat first, put up the highest score in Pakistan against Pakistan in T20Is. They set up the target of 183 for the opposition which must have pressurized Pakistan. Although, Sri Lanka lost their two wickets earlier but, they didn’t keep the flow same and played magnificently.

Pakistan made a really horrible start. Due to bad opening score, rest of the players were pressurized and couldn’t do what was required. Babar lost his wicket in very early terms so the backbone of Pakistan was gone also the match. He could score only 3 runs. The opening Fakhar Zaman scored 7 runs. Only 4 men went to the double figures among which Imad tried hard to put the team back on the track. Then, he lost his partnership with Asif which was going well until he was dismissed on lbw.

The comeback of former cricketers, Ahmad Shahzad and Umar Akmal have not helped the team so far. Akmal had gone on a golden duck in last game and the same happened today.

On the other hand, youngsters of Sri Lanka have shown tremendous remarks of performance without their senior players. They have beaten the No.1 T20 side in the world in their own homeland by setting very good score which became impossible for the opposition to chase up. They have been tremendous in bowing and fielding. Harasanga, who got three crucial wickets but was expensive, have made game hard for the hosts. Pradeep got four wickets haul and made it hard for hosts to chase although with an excellent fight back.

Skipper Sarfraz Ahmad on losing second match of the series said,

“We need to look upon ourselves in all three departments. We could not execute our plans for the balling although we tried hard but Sri Lanka were the second best. Also we have not picked up wickets in middle overs which have hurted the site,”

He further added,

“Ahmad Shahzad and Umar Akmal had performed well in previous matches so they do deserve call ups.”

Sri Lankan captain Shanaka added,

“Our brilliant performance has credited us. The main credit goes to Rajapaksa for his magnificent innings in the middle overs. I know about the return of senior players but the way youngsters have played, they deserve a chance.”

This was all from the SL vs Pak, 2nd T20. Third and last match of the series will be played on 9th October at Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore.
